Thief
The night
Obscures my dreams
Under a blanket of darkness
Hiding ruthless melancholy
Eras lost to hopeless optimism
Denying life’s curved path
Stranded
Drowning
A sea of regrets and what if’s
Confounding
The Thief of the Night
Who lives off of glee, bliss and delight
Robber of Wisdom
Of Happiness
Of Fame
Allow me Time to Dream
And my Joy regain
Being that life is only full of Pain
Rather
Steal away my Tears
My Fears
My Shame
Allow me Time to Heal
And to Feel
Again
But until then
A journal sits atop my nightstand
Every night
I ink my hopes and fantasies
The ink is wasting
An engraved black pen
My father’s legacy
It reads:
Thief of the Night,
Who stole from You?
And what did they take?
